Extra Challenge – Monthly Check In

The RED LINE of ME in this ProjectMe

To make this interesting for each of us individually, we suggest a Monthly “CHECK IN” in with yourself on paper. This is not an obligation! But some (well … many 😉 of us, are eager to do more than 1 page or 1 prompt per month. You can skip this too, or keep it for yourself or share with us, it is all up to you!

CHECK IN*:

Every first of the month you sit down and look at how you are doing at this point of your year / life.

Mark this ahead in your planner with CHECK IN!

How are you doing ?

Ask yourself these questions every month (all, or a couple) and give it stars (1 to 5 ) and / or write the answers down:

1. How am I doing (with)

  • Physically
  • Emotionally
  • Mentally
  • Work / Job  / Career
  • Relationships
  • Family
  • Energy level
  • Social Media
  • Creativity
  • Stress

2. What am I grateful for?

3. What do I want to work on

4. How’s your WORD of the year doing ?

It will be interesting to see where this leads you in the end, don’t you think so too?! Also it is good to consciously think of what you feel, experience what phases you go through and write them down.

If you are into trackers feel free to make some! If not, just relax , humming your Word and waiting for the next month-challenge.

October Challenge – Stationery Clean Out

OCTOBER CHALLENGE –  by Desiree & Moon Hulsman

 Week 1 PAPER DECLUTTER

(week 40 –  30 sept tot 6 oct)

Welcome to the Stationery Clean out Challenge for October.

This is the Octoberchallenge for ProjectMe19, there will not be a Daily challenge this month.

We cut up this month in 5 weeks, every week we will be cleaning out another section of you stationery stash. The result will be a cleaned out Room or Hobbyspot , where you can sit down fresh and emptyheaded to be creative, journal or make Snailmails.  We will go through all our stuff and toss out all the things we do not need anymore, or that is broke, torn or dried up.

The first week will be the most tough one, but after that it will become much simpler, and more fun 😉 This week we will attack our Paper Piles, most of us have stacks of it because it is easy to save.

How do we approach this ?

We start with 3 boxes:

  1. Throw away
  2. Give away
  3. Keep and cherish

In box 1 we put all the paper we will not use anymore. Be honest and straight to yourself, you only keep what sparks joy right away! (Thank you Mary Kondo :))

In box 2 we put things that we know someone else will love and use! Styles or colors you fell out of love with go in here too.  We will give those away. Or swap with others ?

In box 3 we put  what we want to keep and cherish, that make us happy!

Now go through all your paper stuff!

This can be: designpaper, card stock, blanc paper, enveloppes, pictures, cut outs, post-its, memopads, rest-stuff, project life cards, postcards, vellum, old books, magazines, postage stamps, bakingpaper, kraft and cardboard, wrappingpaper, napkins, etc etc.

Ask yourself eveytime, ‘am I really going to use this soon, do I need it?’ Then divide over the 3 boxes. Do 1 category paper per time.

Remember, you have a whole week.

TIP: Make a ‘Go to box’ to use rightaway on your desk, put in there the seasonal stuff and the things you want to use in october. Eg Halloween. I do this every beginning of a new season

Good Luck!   #stationerycleanout

 Week 2 PENS and WRITINGMATERIALS

(week 41 : 06 oct – 13 oct)

This week we will attack our Pens and other Writing materials.

Put everything that writes or colours in fornt of you on the table. If it is too much put it in a box. Now start testing everything, everything that is empty and not refillable toss away!

Work through all your pens, markers, pencils, calligraphypens, pennibs and colour pencils. The pencils give them a fresh new point!

Everything refillable, set aside for now, we will get to that later.

Your fountainpens will get a special treatement, give them a nice warm bath. Clean the nibs. Dry well and refill.

If you have pretty pouches, or penmaps, sort them out and put them together. Use a nice mug or a little vase to group them up.

Soupcans make a good holder too, decorate or paint them! Three together wrapped with yarn make a nice home.

Another step done in your #stationerycleanout!

March Challenge

MARCH CHALLENGE PROJECT ME19

It’s already March! The days are getting longer, the sunlight stronger and the meteorological Spring has officially started. This makes us people happier too, we get energy from it and it brightens our moods. This Monthly challenge is all about Spring. Try to be aware of what happens outside in nature. Get out and enjoy new beginnings! They are for free!

  1. Do your CHECK in for March!

2.’ODE TO SPRING’

Step outside, bundle up if necessary and make a nice stroll through the neighbourhood.  What are the first flowers you see? What are their colors? Do they speak to you? Pick one and bring it home. Sit down and look at it very close. Make a MONOTONE spread about it in your journal. Monotone means ‘ 1 color palette’, but in different shades!

I made a collage, but of course you can use other techniques, draw or write in different shades of ink, or watercolor, let your muse go free ! Of course you can make multiple spreads during the month of march!

My own example : I saw a NARCISSUS first, not at all my favorite, but took it with me anyway and worked on a spread. I searched for every piece of yellow in my ephemera box and became really happy, out of my comfortzone and all!

A Crocus for example has more colors : purple, orange, white, just like an anemone or tulip. Work with the colors you see. Looking forward to see what you come up with !

Bring ODES TO SPRING!

All Challenges:

Spring Challenge

SPRING CHALLENGE

Thursday March the 21st officially marks a new season : SPRING

Spring signifies new growth, birth, and the vitality that comes from getting back outside and enjoying the fresh air. Sometimes associated with spring cleaning, it also is a chance for change or new and fresh starts.

To be honest, we had a very challenging and disturbing start this year, in personal- and in work-life. Most did, but not everything worked out the way we wanted and it left us sad, disappointed and feeling bad about ourselves a lot of times. Some broken things just can’t be healed, but we can learn from them, and always start over on a new page. A RESET if you want!

So …. How can you take advantage of this transformative time of year?

Plant New Seeds

Planting seeds in your garden at this time of year is a wonderful way to start a season of growth. What you can learn as you watch your garden grow also pertains to how you live your life. When you want to start something new, whether that is a new way of exercising, a new job, or a new relationship, you need to start by planting the seeds for those things.

Begin by knowing what you want, know why you want it and how you will feel when you have it. As you wait for your seeds to sprout, let your garden remind you to tend, to feed, and to have patience. When we plant seeds, we don’t dig them up to see if they have sprouted. We also don’t compare the growth of different crops. Everything comes in its time. This is also true of new plans, habits, and behavior.

Air Out

Spring weather welcomes you out from hibernation, so open your windows and take some deep breaths. Get out in the fresh air. Airing out can also mean taking the time to practice mindful breathing. The following are two breath exercises I like to use:

Declutter

Spring cleaning includes dusting, vacuuming, and putting things away that may have come become chaotic over the winter season. Decluttering is also relevant to your mind. Paying attention to the thoughts you choose to see if the beliefs you currently have serve you can be really invigorating. Getting rid of self-defeating thought patterns will help you to feel lighter and more positive.

Out with the Old, In with the New

Some of your current habits are great. They support your health, career, and relationship goals. Those are the things you want to keep. But if you have patterns that don’t support you, SPRING is a good time to start new positive habits 😉

So here is your SPRING CHALLENGE:

  1. Make a spread with the theme NEW BEGINNINGS.
  2. Use at least one thing you bought, that is still in its wrapping because you never used it up to now. (in our case Embossingpowder and the Stazon white Inkset 😉

June Challenge

First finish your CHECK IN for JUNE. How are you doing?

Summer is coming, doesn’t that feel great already?!

JUNE CHALLENGE #1

When you are done with your CHECK-IN, you can start with the June Challenge. This month you can choose what you want to do, the challenges #1 or #2 – or both, if you feel like it, whatever feels good for you, you could even pick just a few of Challenge #2.

HERE WE GO:

Take your journal for a walk outside. Or drive it somewhere adventurous! Take materials too, but: NO washitapes, stickers or stamps!

Fountainpen, gelpens, watercolours, dippen … that is what you get to work with in this spread. Draw, scetch or paint what you see.
(so make sure it is a pretty spot). You don’t have to be the next Rembrandt, but draw as many details as possible. Take your time!

Do this again this month, if you have the time, with a close up of  1. flower, 2. insect or 3. building.

JUNI CHALLENGE #2

To our great surprise the DAILY CHALLENGE #cafeanalogtalk became such a big success on Instagram, that we decided to do another one in June! This means we will use daily prompts. You will find the prompts at the bottom of the page.

You can work the prompts out in your usual ProjectME19 journal/notebook, but you can also take a separate insert, or grab a new notebook for it (you know you have some 😉 ) whatever you want!  For instance, use another size, make a MINI notebook, or a PHOTO album for a Picture a day, or just write this time and nothing else!

All Challenges:

February Challenge

1. CHECK IN FEBRUARY

How are you doing? Don’t forget to fill out your Check-In for February

(You can find it here: Check-In list)

2. ‘AWAY WITH THE GREY’

I was so lucky to be on vacation in january, and had lots of sun and warmth, but I can imagine you all are a bit fed up with the rain, the cold and the grey skies. Spring is still 1,5 month away from us … so let’s bring out the sun ourselves!

Here we go:

  • Grab all your washitapes*, now pick out your favorites or your latest buys – as many as you like!
  • Lay them all out in front of you, if you like, try to find a colorscheme (3 opposite colours), but a mix-up is nice too!
  • Then determine how you want to make your own WASHI SAMPLE PAGE !
  • I didn’t have many washitapes with me, so I decided to make a little neighbourhood with houses.

* If you don’t have washitapes, pretty papers, postage stamps and/or ephemera work too!  Or check our shop! 😉

Happy Hood

A little trick to make shapes of washi:

  • Use the back of stickersheets or baking paper (the shiny side!)
  • Put strips of washi on the shiny side, if you then draw your shapes – or even stamp – on the back of that paper, you can easily cut them out and peel them off. This way you can make multiples of the same shape.
  • Thin washi can go together with broad washi by ligning them up next to eachother, make sure to overlap a little!
  • Make the best combinations this way with 2 or 3 washitapes – these are really great for that:  Chamilgarden tapes
  • Even easier is to use a Diecut punch! You do need sturdy backgroundpaper for that.
  • Or like I did, just clip out squares and triangles for houses by hand.
  • (Pssst: This way you can also cut out flower prints or other designs for washicircles later on this year 😉

Here are some examples I found on IG and Internet. These are not ours, there are so many creative minds out there!

(Please let me know if you want to be credited, if we didn’t already).

Now it is your turn! Surprise yourself!

And please have FUN, no stress: make one spread and whipe the sweat of your forehead, or make these all month long, it is totally up to you, there is no right or wrong here!

By the way : how is your Word of the Year doing?? I am still terribly FOCUSED as you can see…. lol…

Please DO leave a reaction underneath this post about what you think of this Project so far, if you miss anything, find it too hard or too easy,  or want something later on this year 🙂

All Challenges:

January Challenge ( 2 parts)

1.  CHOOSE a WORD for 2019

The word can be in any language, but it has to be YOUR word that fits you for the year ahead. What do you want to work on in 2019?

My word is FOCUS. I want to focus on who I am, what I really want and need. And I want to be in the NOW more.

Make a page or spread (2 pages) with your word and ‘2019’ on it!

This is my spread – my word will be FOCUS

2. Make a spread (minimum 2 pages) about your ZODIAC SIGN

List of 12 Zodiac Signs - Dates, Meanings, Symbols

This Challenge is all about Zodiac Signs. What is your sign? Do a little online investigation online about it. What does it stand for? What is your element? What signs are you compatible with? What is your partners, or best friends sign, or your children’s?

You can go as deep into this as you want. Just one journaling session about it, if this is not really your thing, is fine too of course.
But it is very interesting to see for example what minerals go with your sign and what you can learn from it!

So take it away ! HAVE FUN!
