March: COMMUOVERE

Hello, journaling friends! In 2025, our monthly Cafe Analog’s friendly journaling challenge #caprojectme25 will take its prompts from beautiful words/phrases from various languages around the world! We think it will be a fun way to start the year while also allowing you to design a spread based on the essence of a word/phrase, making it very personal to you! We will also have three journaling prompts for you to choose from as a way for you to connect more with the month’s word/phrase selection!

The phrase for March is an Italian word, “COMMUOVERE”.

We love how this word carries emotional weight—to move or touch someone so profoundly through compassion or beauty. The softness of the word feels like a gentle nudge to remember those moments when something moved us so greatly that we were filled with love, awe, or empathy. Either you’re seeing the face of a loved one, touched by the happy mails and paperhugs you receive from stationery friends, experiencing kindness on a challenging day from someone, enjoying the view of the beautiful sunset, or hearing a song that suddenly remind you to love yourself… these moments stir your heart to “feel” something so profoundly. A personal and intimate experience that you cherish.

As February transitions to March, the anticipation of spring begins to stir feelings of hope and rejuvenation. Just as nature awakens, we feel connected to something larger than ourselves, and the sights of the changing seasons often allow us to have a deep reflection or emotional experiences about the passage of time and the cycle of life. For those who love creative journaling, “commuovere” is a beautiful thematic canvas to explore feelings of creative encounter, inspiration, and the intricacies of human connection.

This month, create a spread with your stationery supplies or other materials to capture the essence of the phrase COMMUOVERE for you. If the word is a journal spread, what would it look like?

Here are some creative journaling prompts for you to choose from:

1.

Moment of Deep Emotion

Could you remember a time when you were touched so deeply, seeing, hearing, or maybe experiencing something beautiful or loving in your life? What happened? And which aspect of this moment touched you deeply? What did it inspire/stir inside of you?

2.

Connection with Nature

Go out for a walk, sit in your garden, or watch the view from your window… and just watch the world around you for a few minutes, letting your eyes gaze into the fresh arrival of spring. Which specific thing captures your attention and moves something inside of you? The sky? A squirrel? The chirping of a bird? The decaying leaves? Why do you think you are attracted to this particular thing/object? What does it remind you of?

3.

Creating Feelings

Can you remember one of your childhood dreams or wishful thinking that makes you feel good, giddy, or smile when you think of them? What are they? Which feelings are these dreams representing? If one of the dreams is going to an amusement park reserved only for yourself, so you can go on the rides as much and as long as you like, what feelings does it represent? Freedom? Abundance of time? Having fun? Excitement? Being playful? The thrill of riding the roller coaster? In what way can you bring these feelings into your current life?

Feel free to share your pages and spreads with the hashtag #caprojectme25 if you’d like others who join the project to find yours—and you can also see how others translate COMMUOVERE into their journal pages!

Have fun, and we hope that this March, you’ll be touched by something so beautiful and moved by something so kind that you will have the inspiration to spread it around! (Hopefully, one of the things that moved you is the love and care you put into yourself and the people you love!).

love, H.
