Cafe Analog x Project J by Yuka Butter – The Hyakunin Isshu – Washi Sheet and Flower Sticker Set

This product was born from Yuka Butter’s new creative venture, Project J. It’s a personal project she started to create works inspired by the designs and art she grew up with in Japan—separate from her usual work for Yuka Butter. The Hyakunin Isshu is an anthology of 100 poems (waka), each written by a different poet across various eras. These 5-7-5-7-7 syllable poems often reflect on nature, seasons, and love. The most well-known version, Ogura Hyakunin Isshu, was compiled by the poet Fujiwara no Teika during the Kamakura period(1185 to 1333) and is still widely studied in Japan today.

When Yuka read these poems, she was struck by how timeless human emotions are. People centuries ago were moved by the arrival of spring, the beauty of the natural world, and even feelings of solitude, just like we are today. She created this product as a way to connect with those emotions and share them through journaling. She hopes this set adds a little poetic inspiration to everyone’s journaling moments.
