September: Bringing the Outside In

Hi, everyone! In 2024, we’ll periodically give away the prompts for our monthly Cafe Analog’s friendly journaling challenge #caprojectme24 to add a bit of freshness and spontaneity! 😀

We have had some rain here in Amsterdam, and I have been wearing my socks to sleep at night! Cold lemonade has been replaced with warm milk with a dash of nutmeg and vanilla syrup and hot chocolate sprinkled with pumpkin spice powder. Autumn will be here soon, and with all the trees changing colors and losing their leaves, the month always reminds me of letting go—to feel lighter and to make space for what’s next to grow! Because even if it feels like we’re losing something by letting go, the truth is that we’re always gaining something out of it: a lesson, a memory, an experience…

Thus, the design prompt for this month is Bringing the Outside In!

This month, create a page, cards, or paper clusters where you bring something from the “outside” into your journal pages! Think about something you can find in Nature during your walks. It can be a lovely way to say goodbye to spring and summer while having a piece of it inside your journal pages: flower petals, dried leaves, the faint smell of herbs on your journal pages… the possibilities are endless!

Of course, you don’t have to do this literally—you can also use stickers, tapes, or stamps to represent the things or vibe of being outside that you want to keep with you. Is it time to swap these supplies with your autumn/winter-themed ones? Then, this could be the chance to use them for one last time before they go back into your drawer for a few months 🙂

As you create, remember all the things you have experienced until today, all the things you want to let go of, and all the things you want to keep in your life 😀 If you join this #caprojectme24 challenge, you can also share the story about the creative process behind your spread!

These are some September writing prompts you can choose for the #caprojectme24 (you can select one or work on all of them weekly):

1

What is the one thing I am so ready to let go of? What lesson has it taught me?

2

What new experiences, feelings, or memories would I like to create or bring into my life? What would I want to try?

3

How do I see my connection with nature around me, and which memories do I remember the most fondly about being outside in nature?

4

If Autumn has a message or a piece of wisdom it wants to deliver to me that I need to hear, what would it be about?

If you are doing this #caprojectme24 at the end of September, you can also write down a recap of your month, highlighting the things that feel important to you and your growth! Feel free to be creative and choose/translate/modify the prompts as you like!

You can tag us with #caprojectme24 to share your page with our Cafe Analog community! Have fun enjoying the change of seasons!
