Cafe Analog Manifesto: Small, Soft, Slow
After 3 years of running Cafe Analog, we have come up with a manifesto. This will be our compass and our lighthouse as we sail this stationery journey with all of you. It’s our way of staying true to the reason we love Cafe Analog in the first place.
These days, with the speed and volume of information available to us, it is indeed difficult not to fall into comparisons or succumb to outside pressures. However, we realize that, at the end of the day, what’s most important to us is not numbers, growth, or targets, but the fun, excitement, playfulness, memories, and connections we’ve made with each and every one of you.
Our manifesto revolves around 3 words and values: SMALL. SOFT. SLOW. We believe that staying small keeps things human and warm, that softness is a strength, that giving time a chance is kinder than giving in to trends.

THE CAFE ANALOG MANIFESTO: SMALL · SOFT · SLOWÂ
Cafe Analog was born from a love of stationery and the quiet joy of making things by hand. Whether it’s a heartfelt letter, a journal filled with memories, or a collage of thoughts and feelings, we always cherish the moments that invite patience, care, and presence.
In a world that moves faster every day, we want to choose another pace.
We believe stationery isn’t something to rush, collect endlessly, or buy because everyone else does. It’s something we choose slowly, something that speaks to our heart, something we’ll fall in love with at first sight, and keep for years to come.
It’s a gentle companion for creating, reflecting, and slowing down to appreciate the small, meaningful moments in life—as well as a way to support our favorite stationery artists and independent studios who are still making things they love, close to heart, close to home.
SMALL
We believe that staying small keeps things human and warm.
We are a small, family-owned business, and we plan to stay that way.
Being small allows us to make decisions with care and intention, rather than chasing growth for its own sake. Being small allows us to be nimble, flexible, and more independent. Sometimes we may close the shop for family time, rest, or vacation. There will be times when we can ship only a few days a week. These moments aren’t interruptions: they’re simply a reminder that the shop is run by real people, like you and me.
Staying small helps us know our customers better. We recognize familiar names, remember past orders, and pack each order with attention. Over time, we come to know your preferences and the brands you love, and we think this connection is what makes our work special—it’s something we cherish as we pick and pack your order and write you a handwritten note.
Being small also gives us the freedom to follow our curiosity. We work with artists because we truly love their work, not because they can produce endlessly, have a huge following, give us a huge wholesale discount, or launch new collections every season.
We especially enjoy introducing artists you may not have heard of yet, because discovery is one of the quiet joys of stationery.
SOFT
We believe that softness is a strength.
Softness is how we care for the work, the artists, and the people who work with us or shop with us.
We don’t want to push products to sell quickly. Some pieces are allowed to wait patiently for the right person. Not everything needs to move fast to be meaningful. This gentle approach also gives artists the freedom to create without the pressure to race against time and launch new collections as fast as possible: their work can be unrushed, quiet, subtle, and niche, yet still be deeply valued over time.
Softness also allows us to leave room for mistakes, because they happen. Since we sometimes sell in person, inventory can shift faster than our system updates. While packing orders, we might notice small defects and choose not to send something that doesn’t feel right. Occasionally, a wrong item is sent, or an order needs to be adjusted.
When this happens, we communicate openly and always offer a solution, whether that’s a refund, a replacement, or a return. We believe fairness and honesty go a long way, and that running a business with care means treating everyone (including ourselves) with kindness. At the end of the day, softness allows us to sleep well at night knowing that we’ve done the best we can do with what we have, within what’s possible.
SLOW
We believe that giving time a chance is kind.
In a world that rewards speed, we choose to slow down. We believe the best things take time.
We don’t chase trends or release cycles, and we don’t want to order entire product collections just because they’re available. We also don’t believe in endless restocks (and our small space wouldn’t allow it anyway). Instead, we want to carefully choose pieces that feel timeless: things we believe you’ll still love months or even years from now.
Buying slowly allows us to take responsibility for what we sell. When we purchase directly from artists, one-off and not on consignment, we make a real commitment and take the risk ourselves. Artists aren’t asked to constantly produce new work, help us promote/sell/market their products, or keep up with trends. Their work is simply valued for its care, thoughtfulness, and longevity.
Some items sell out quickly. Some take time to return. Some may never come back, and that’s okay. We see this as part of the story.
We want the discovery of stationery to feel special again, and see ourselves as someone buying souvenirs to carry home while traveling. It’s usually unhurried, intuitive, and guided by love at first sight. We also choose items that remind us of the people we know back home and select a few to share with the people we care about.
We hope this extends to you, too. If you miss something today, trust that another stationery item—maybe from an artist you’ve never heard of—will find its way to you at the right time, and you’ll love it.

THE SLOW · SMALL · SOFT MANIFESTO FOR OUR CUSTOMERS
If our manifesto as a shop/small business resonates with you, here are some ways how it can apply to you (to us) as customers or stationery lovers in general:
SMALL
Choose your stationery items with intention. Select only what you love and will cherish, using and taking care of each piece fully and mindfully. Celebrate a collection that’s personal, meaningful, and free from waste or excess. “If what’s mine is used or cherished, it’s loved.”
SOFT
Treat your creations, collections, and creative time with care. Clean your stamps, nurture your pens and paper, and make journaling a gentle ritual, free from criticism and comparison. Let your practice be calm, mindful, and full of quiet joy. “If it’s loved, it brings contentment.”
SLOW
Move at your own pace. Browse both new and old stationery items without fear of missing out. Take time to notice which stationery items truly spark joy, and move something within you. Let your stationery journey unfold in your own time. “If it’s for me, it will be mine.”
