“The Lotus Atelier” is a 100+-year-old family-run stamp shop, established in 1910 in Fukuoka, Japan, now on the third generation of the family. Since 2018 Akino-san has been working alone on these stamps, and she continued her shop as ‘Kobo Ren’. Sakura Hanabira (さくら花びら) means “cherry blossom petals,” symbolizing fleeting beauty, impermanence, renewal, and the preciousness of each passing moment in Japanese culture. It is strongly associated with spring, especially Japan’s cherry-blossom season from March to April.
